Business Travel Summit - London

Kate Watson, head of consulting in the UK and Lucila Rodaro, consultant, participated to the Business Travel Summit in London, the specialist travel conference for corporate business travel managers and buyers focused on exploring best practice, trends and innovation in managed travel.

Kate moderated the session “How to buy air travel in 2017”. A panel discussion about how to work out the air solution that’s best for your organisation. Interesting discussions about whether NDC is finally starting to affect how travel managers negotiate and buy air travel and how TMCs are working to offer access to the widest range of air content. It will also look at how disruptive air fare monitoring technologies are helping buyers reduce costs, improve compliance and add value.

Contracts may be won on price but does any buyer truly know the total cost of their travel management company?
How hard should it really be to negotiate a financial agreement between a corporate and a TMC supplier – and then accurately manage it throughout the contractual period?
It obviously depends on the scope of work – including the size (spend and transaction volumes) and geographical scope of the travel programme, but it shouldn’t be that difficult, should it?

Areka Consulting was pleased to be a joint sponsor of the recent ITM Airline Workshop on 9th September in London, attended by procurement specialists and travel managers. Areka presented a step by step guide to the airline RFP process, including hints and tips on how to approach this important topic – including how to evaluate whether to implement negotiated deals vs. best buy on the day. AFTM, le changement dans la continuité

Comme pour les législatives, l’abstention aura été forte à l’Assemblée générale de l’AFTM où seuls 160 votes ont été enregistrés (sur un peu plus de 320 adhérents) pour l’Assemblée générale de ce 13 juin. Un beau résultat néanmoins pour une association qui a accueilli physiquement 60 personnes et géré une centaine de pouvoirs. Rien de bien surprenant quand on sait qu’un grand nombre est adhérent "au cas où", comme nous l’expliquait en mai dernier un acheteur de province.

Pour son événement annuel sur le marché français, ACTE avait donné rendez-vous aux acheteurs et responsables voyages dans l’un des épicentres du business travel made in France : le siège du groupe AccorHotels, installé au sein de la Tour Sequana à Issy-les-Moulineaux. Un cadre idoine donc, pour décrypter les grandes tendances du secteur, et imaginer ce que pourrait être le déplacement professionnel de demain.

« La digitalisation et ses impacts sur le voyage d’affaires » : voilà donc l’angle choisi par les équipes de l’association américaine pour cette demi-journée d’échanges introduite par Sabah Kahoul, responsable projet (ACTE), puis animée par Jean-Michel Kadaner (Areka Consulting).
